A restaurant and brew house with an old Chicago “speak easy” concept throughout the entire location. The owner wanted to have this same approach branch out through the identity. On our initial creative turn in, we gathered a series of photos from the restaurant that contained old barrels that were used during prohibition. The barrels fit perfectly with the name and gave us the visual mark that would represent the MT Barrels brand. We needed the identity to be a complete brand in which the logo mark and logo type fit well together and could be used not only on restaurant collateral, but on apparel and other merchandise. We gave the identity a wood cut texture to match the wood grains from the barrels. This picked up on a visual texture that was noticed throughout the restaurant from the doors to the tables. Everything we developed in the brand from fonts to colors were all designed around consistency and recognition.
